" Me and My Broken Heart " is a song performed by British pop band Rixton. It was written by Benny Blanco, Ammar Malik, Steve Mac, Wayne Hector, and Rob Thomas and produced by Blanco and Mac. The song was first released on March 14, 2014 as the lead single from Rixton's debut studio album, Let the Road (2015).

Background and composition
The band members Jake Roche and Danny Wilkin wrote songs in the caravan of Wilkin's parents, three years before the band's formation. After being introduced to Charley Bagnall through friends, the trio meet Lewi Morgan who later joins them to form the band, Rixton. After making loyal followers on YouTube for their hit single covers by Taylor Swift, Chris Brown and Rita Ora among others, the group signed a contract with Interscope Records and its three sub-labels by talent manager Scooter Braun and record producer/producer Benny Blanco. When talking about their signing to the label (s) and the experience of recording their first extended playback, Rixton commented, "It's amazing to have gone from writing a song in the Wilkin caravan to watching the world do our music.We have worked very hard and have a burst of recording EP.The songs are very eclectic and we think there's something for everyone! ".
"Me and My Broken Heart" interpolated parts of Rob Thomas's 2005 single "Lonely No More". Band member Jake Roche discussed the sample in the article for Billboard: "We've become big fans, so we took a lot of inspiration from him and wanted to give him a hat cap". While Thomas responded positively to the use of the sample, "Me and My Broken Heart" has been criticized online for using elements of Thomas's songs.
After working with Blanco in the recording studio, "Me and My Broken Heart" was released as the lead single from the upcoming studio group debut album on March 14, 2014. The group's first extended game, titled Me and My Broken Heart EP followed on March 18, 2014. "Me and My Broken Heart" was released to radio on March 11, 2014 and made its first appearance at KIIS FM in Los Angeles during one of JoJo Wright's shows.

"Me and My Broken Heart" has performed quite well throughout the world, reaching the top 40 on the majority of the charts that have entered. During the week of its launch in the UK, "Me and My Broken Heart" led the mid-week chart, beating out his closest rival, "Your Love" by Nicole Scherzinger, with 12,000 copies. It then debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart, becoming the group's first hit number one. In the United States, "Me and My Broken Heart" debuted at number eighty seven on the US Billboard Hot 100 and finally reached number fourteen, giving Rixton their only top hit in the US. It has sold over 500,000 copies since its release and is therefore eligible for Gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The song also enjoys success on other Billboard charts, reaching the top five of the Top 40 Adults, the top ten from Mainstream Top 40 and the top twenty of the Contemporary Adult charts.
Music video
The music video that accompanies the song, which runs for about three minutes and sixteen seconds, was released on March 27, 2014 through a group Vevo account on YouTube. The film is directed by Cameron Duddy known for his work with Bruno Mars and OneRepublic. The video centers on Rixton band members are "the victim of an attractive female swindler".

In April 2014, the band performed songs on the second live show The Voice . In May 2014, the band made their television debut on a talk show with a performance song on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. They also performed at the Teen Choice Awards 2014 on August 10, 2014.

The song appears at the end of the Haunted Hathaways episode Mostly Ghostly Girl. It also featured as background music for Toyota C-HR for the Japanese domestic market, with Jennifer Garner, Bryce Dallas Howard, J. K. Rowling and Lindsay Lohan.
