Business career

In addition to being a rapper, Master P also enjoys a successful career as an entrepreneur and investor. After the death of his grandfather, Miller inherited $ 10,000 as part of a malpractice settlement and opened a record store in Richmond, California called No Limit Records, which later became the basis for his own record label of the same name. Since then he has staked an initial capital investment of $ 10,000 to a $ 250 million business empire that spans across industries. As an entrepreneur, Miller is known for being frugal and keeping business costs down and high profit margins. His intelligent business acumen enabled Miller to profit from one attempt to fund the next.

Miller was one of the first rappers to take notice and take advantage of the retail potential of the music industry. As an investor, Master P is one of the first rappers to build a business and financial empire by investing in various businesses and investments from various industries. He has invested the millions of dollars he earned from his No Limit recording company into a travel agency, retail outlets Foot Locker, real estate, stocks, movies, music and television production, toy making, sex-phone companies, apparel, telecommunications, , car accessories, book and magazine publishing, car rims, fast food franchises, and gas stations. His sports management agency No Limit Communications, a joint venture with marketing guru Djuan Edgerton, was a success. The conglomerate, No Limit Enterprises, became the financial center. Investment firm and real estate property management, New Orleans-based PM Properties controls more than 100 properties across the United States. According to Black Enterprise magazine, No Limit Enterprises earned $ 110 million in revenues in 1998 alone. This level of success inspires other rappers to grow into other business ventures and investments. Miller also has its own beverage line, called "Make 'Em Say Ughh!" energy drink. Miller has also gone into the mass media, where he founded Better Black Television, a cable television network in November 2010 based in New Orleans, making it the first rapper to set up a cable television network.

The rapper has historically focused more on the artistic and glamorous side of hip-hop music, while very little attention to aspects of business, investment and finance. All of that changed in 1996 when Master P signed a music distribution deal with Priority Records, where No Limit Records would retain 100% ownership of their main recordings and save 85% of their record sales while giving a 15% Priority in return for pressing and distributing the allowing No Limit to benefit from future sales such as catalogs and remittances. Master P then produced hundreds of millions of dollars from this deal. In addition, Master P creates many innovative marketing techniques. According to Wendy Day, CEO of the Rap Coalition, "Master P has an overall marketing movement, he is the first to market the way corporate entities like IBM will market to their customers." While traditional models for marketing records spend millions of dollars on expensive videos and aerial games, Miller does not have that luxury. As an independent artist, Miller must find a way to sell, market, and build platinum recording sales requests with a limited recording budget. He is known for keeping upfront business costs down and high profit margins. He began selling cassettes to the trunk of his car in every city and city in America where there was a potential demand for his music. He gives free samples to people with expensive cars and tells them to play music throughout their neighborhood. This street-level guerrilla marketing technique sets the foundation for building a larger fan base for the future. After signing his deal with Priority, Miller started a high-volume business model by removing as many records as possible, as often as possible. He branded all of his albums, so the No Limit brand became more important than the real artist's name. Miller promotes all artists and albums within the album cover. He also uses Mafia-inspired pen and pixel graphics and themes to make his album stand out using Photoshop. He offers 20 songs per album, while most albums offer 15 or less, as Miller learns that customers want more for their money. He transformed his artist into characters like Marvel comics, not just rappers. She made sure her artist was number one on SoundScan whenever they released an album, to build a perception of popularity. He uses cheap videos to promote his artists and he promotes albums by using movies and vice versa and ties them up as a package. Brand image and identity are more important than just music quality. Miller's record label has sold 75 million records as a result of innovative marketing and branding strategies.

As the founder and CEO of No Limit Entertainment, Miller at one time led a business empire that included his conglomerate No Limit Enterprises, No Limit Records, Bout It Inc., No Limit Clothes, No Limit Communications, No Limit Films, No Limit Sports Management, Property PM, and Travel Benefits. Miller represented the former NFL ran back Ricky Williams when he was drafted by the New Orleans Saints, but the deal was rated the worst contract for players in NFL History by ESPN. Miller also manages his son's music, film, and television career, rap star Romeo Miller, and pop star Forrest Lipton and Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane. Miller is also an executive television producer for his teenage daughter, Cymphonique's Nickelodeon Show, How To Rock, and co-creator Romeo !, the hit Nickelodeon television show starring in his son.

In 2009, he earned over $ 661 million, making him the highest paid hip hop entertainer in the world at the time. In 2013, Miller's fortune is estimated at $ 350 million, making him one of the richest figures in the world of hip hop America.
