Histori
Joe Denette Motorsports
After Thornburg, the original Virginia Joe Denette was dismissed from his job in 2009, he entered the lottery, purchased a "fistfull" of tickets to Mega Millions with an initial dream to buy RVs to travel to the race every week. Denette matched six figures in a May 1 withdrawal and won $ 75.6 million, with lump sum payments of $ 46 million. With the money, Denette contacted his fellow Virginian members and former full-time driver Hermie Sadler about starting his own team in the World Truck Driving Series. After consulting the current team owner, Kevin Harvick of KHI, Denette set up his own team in 2011, with trucks and support from KHI and engines from Pro Motor Engines. Denette hired another Virginian, Jason White, who brought sponsorship from GunBroker.com. Coincidentally, Denette bought 23 lottery tickets for his big payday, and White's sponsor brought the number 23. Hermie's brother and Harvick Nationwide Series racer Elliott Sadler drove the second truck, No. 24, for several races towards the end of the season. The team experienced some pain that grew in 2011; although they scored the top seventies and one pole with Sadler at Bristol, White finished in 15th position. The team lowered the full-time truck in 2012 with Denette, Bill Elliott's long-standing fan, and numbered 23 trucks to No. 1. 9.
