Mercy College ( Mercy or Mercy NY ) is a private, non-sectarian, non-profit research university, with its main campus located on 66 hectares at Dobbs Ferry , New York, along the Hudson River, with additional locations in Manhattan, the Bronx and Yorktown Heights. Universities are historically affiliated with the Roman Catholic church, and the curriculum remains influenced by the Jesuit educational principles. Mercy College has five schools: Business, Education, Health & amp; Natural Science, Liberal and Social Arts & amp; Behavioral Sciences, and offers more than 90 undergraduate and graduate programs as well as certificates. The University has 11,295 students enrolled in the fall of 2015. The student body is from 43 states and 54 countries.
Mercy College is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the East Coast Conference (ECC). Mercy College athletics teams compete in the NCAA Second Division and are known collectively as Mercy Mavericks.

Histori
Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1950, Mercy College became a four-year college offering programs leading to a bachelor's degree in 1961. The College was accredited by the Commission of Middle Countries on Higher Education in 1968. In half a decade Next, Mercy College sets the course for its future with a series of actions including declaring itself self-reliant and co-educational. In addition, it doubles the size of the existing physical plant and initiates the first of many community outreach efforts. Mercy College in 1970 expanded its reach through the establishment of extension centers and branch campuses throughout communities in Westchester County and New York City.
Mercy College was authorized to offer its first graduate program, nursing, in 1981. Since then, over 30 diverse postgraduate courses have been introduced, and in 2006, the College was authorized to offer its first doctoral program in physical therapy. The College expanded its offerings to include online programs in the 1990s, and was soon granted the ability to offer an entire degree program online. Thousands of Mercy College students take one or all of their online courses through more than 40 undergraduate and postgraduate courses on offer.
In 2004, Timothy L. Hall, former president of Austin Peay State University, and former rector of the University of Mississippi, became the 12th president of Mercy College.

Campus
Dobbs Ferry main campus
The main campus in Dobbs Ferry, New York, overlooks the Hudson River. The campus includes 66 acres along the Hudson River in Dobbs Ferry, New York, a suburb of Westchester County, 25 miles north of New York City. In addition to academic and administrative buildings, it houses College residence and athletic buildings. In 2011, Mercy College purchased Our Lady of Victory Academy building after school closed. Students of Dobbs Ferry enjoy all the nearby shopping and restaurants, just steps from campus, cycling, jogging, or walking along the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail across the campus. The main Dobbs Ferry campus is just steps from Ardsley-on-Hudson Metro-North Hudson Line Station, making the Grand Central Terminal in New York City accessible in less than 30 minutes. In December 2015, the College opened a new 350 square-foot residential compound, which includes a 5,000 square foot fitness facility, and student learning supplies with shops.
Mercy College hosts the Third Round and Quarter Final of the NCAA II Division II Women's Football Championship at Mercy Field on the main campus of Dobbs Ferry.

The Manhattan site is located in the heart of Manhattan in Herald Square and occupies two floors at 66 W 35th St.
Bronx
The Bronx site occupies 125,000 square feet at the Hutchinson Metro Center, a rapidly expanding organization of healthcare business and business organizations.
Yorktown Heights
In 1979, the Yorktown Mercy College site was transferred to its permanent facility at the intersection of Route 202 and Strang Boulevard. This beautiful beautiful building was renovated for use in college. The Mercy College branch library on the Yorktown Mercy College website has been designated as a federal reserve for government publications. At Yorktown Heights, students have access to Northern Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess, and Fairfield Counties. The site is close to Franklin Delano Roosevelt State Park, which offers extensive outdoor recreation activities.

The average GPA of freshman high school students entering is 84.75/100 (3.4/4.0) in autumn 2015. The Mercy College Business School has a reception rate of 68% on 2017. In 2014, the undergraduate population includes 7157 full-time students and 2,942 part-time students with 31 percent of new students and 12 percent of all full-time students living in campus-affiliated housing. - In the "Race to the Top" race, the School of Education receives the largest grant in the State of New York for education for the next generation of mathematics teachers.
- The Bronx Parent Center is an innovative program that empowers parents to support their children's education through workshops, resources, and leadership development. The center also serves as a training ground for students of the School of Education to engage with parents in educational decision making, as well as research bases for faculty to investigate best practices in parental involvement.
- The Veterinary Technology Program is the only 4-year program of its kind in the Tri-State region and graduates have achieved a 100% pass rate on their National Council for over 18 years (the national average is 70%).
- The cutting-edge Roy Disney Studio for Animation Studies exposes students to some of the most influential names in animation and design.
- Thomas Culhane, a faculty member, was named the National Geographic Emerging Explorer of the Year in 2009.

The New York City 8 Point Studio (8PTS) design company won the gold award in the Best Use of Visual Property category. Mercy College has four university libraries. The branch libraries are on all Mercy College sites. The main library is at Dobbs Ferry Campus. The library on the Yorktown Mercy College website has been designated as a federal reserve for government publications.
Athletics
Mercy College sponsors intramural sports programs and inter-college competitions in 10 university teams competing at Division II level. The College is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the East Coast Conference (ECC). Varsity men's programs include baseball, basketball, lacrosse and soccer. Female athletics teams compete in basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball and volleyball. Baseball, lacrosse, football and hockey teams in the field, alongside many high schools and local youth groups, play on the new green grass field on the Dobbs Ferry campus overlooking the Hudson River.
In 2007, college changed its athletic name from "Flyers" to "Mavericks" after the government reviewed and narrowed suggestions from students and faculty members.

The Mercy College Student Government Association (SGA) is responsible for protecting the rights of students, advocating student interests, and promoting the lives of students within our diverse campus. SGA will be responsive to student interest and act as an agent for students.
