Ikhtisar
American Jewelry and Loan is owned by Les Gold, a third-generation pawnshop and businessman, and grandchild of a pawnshop that once owned Sam Loan, the now-defunct mortgage on Michigan Avenue in Detroit. Les first opened American Jewelry at the Green Eight Shopping Center on 8 Mile Road in Oak Park in 1978, moving to its current location in 1993.
In 2011, American Jewelry expanded to a second location when it acquired Jewelry and Premier Loans at Pontiac; the new location featured in the first few episodes of the fifth season of Hardcore Pawn, and in two episodes of the sixth season, in which Les's son and Seth's employee/employee tried to sell the Pontiac location behind Les.
Single son Les, Seth, is a University of Michigan alumnus and has been one of American Jewelry owners since graduating from school. Seth handles the store's marketing division and claims that if it was not for him, the sole marketing campaign of the store was "advertising on the Yellow Pages". Princess Les, Ashley, holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Michigan State University and earned her graduation diamond certificate from the Gemological Institute of America. Ashley is one of the American Jewelry owners and has worked there for over fifteen years, although she took three years off at one point for maternity leave. The rivalry between him and Seth is a common element of many episodes.

Reception
Comparison with Pawn Star
This performance is largely compared to similar reality programs in Star History, but in the tone of similar programs (also on the Repo Operation Trio and Lizard Lick Towing) for example), where it is different but is the focus that is primarily on the human aspect of drama and interaction, rather than the true meaning of the goods brought to the store.
Since the similarity with Star Mix , Pawn of Hardcore has been described only as an imitation and capitalization of the escape success of Gada Bintang . Les Gold defends the show with the claim that the show is a real representation of what the pawnshop is doing, focusing on the human element and showing that people are having a hard time and needing money for basic needs like food and rent.
According to Marc Juris of truTV, any similarity between the performances is accidental. He also noted that Hardcore Pawn is under development for over a year and two episodes of tests aired in December 2009. Regarding the identical early time slot from Monday night at 10 pm ET, across > Pawn Stars at the time, Juris claimed the option was made because Hardcore Pawn matches Repo Operations . The second season debuted in December 2010, on Tuesday at 9 pm ET. Reality versus scripting
Owner Les Gold said at the launch of the show that there would be no playful antics, products or characters on the show. However, New York Post writer Linda Stasi argues that some situations in Hardy Pawn have been set up. For example, each episode displays a moment when Les, who is usually behind a counter, happens to be there when someone brings something unusual for sale. The shows are also clearly edited to follow the regular format, with each episode showing two naughty customers being issued, one trip to the car park or truck for sale, and usually some arguments between Ashley and Seth.
Series cancellation
During season 9, truTV decided not to order more episodes, due to the new direction of the network. truTV concentrated on comedy programming and it was decided that Hardcore Pawn did not relate well to other programs in the network schedule. No other television networks showed interest in the series, and production was discontinued in 2014.
Episode
162 episodes (including pilots and specials) have been aired over nine seasons. Repeats of Hardcore Pawn are also seen on TNT occasions.
Spinoff
Hardcore Pawn has produced two spin-offs:
- Pion Tempur , a series on employees and customers at Guns Plus, a weapons store located near Fort Bragg's military installation in North Carolina. Originally developed under the title " Hardcore Pawn: Fort Bragg " , Combat Pawn made its debut on truTV on Sunday, July 15th, 2012 at 10:30 pm. ET/PT.
- Hardcore Pawn: Chicago , featuring Chicago's Royal Pawn Shop, a pawn shop owned by two brothers, Randy and Wayne Cohen, whose family has been in the business for over 100 years. The series debuted January 1, 2013 and was produced for truTV by Bischoff-Hervey Entertainment, with Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey as executive producers.
In addition, Rich Pyle, one of the American Jewelry clerks featured in many episodes of Hardcore Pawn, has since left the show and hosted another television series for National Geographic Channel, Meltdown , a series focusing on recycling precious metals. The series debuted at National Geographic on October 31, 2013.
