History
The first store opened at the mall was the Bullock department store, in September 1971. The Broadway followed in October, and Sears in November; after the rest of the mall opened in 1971, J. C. Penney was added as the fourth anchor in 1972. Expansion was announced in 1985, consisting of J. W. Robinson and May Company California. The two stores were the anchors of two new wings which were added in 1988. When the chain merged in 1993, both operate as Robinsons-May.
In January 1994, the mall was damaged by the Northridge earthquake. This earthquake caused damage to the inland malls and the six shops anchored, including the Bullock shop, which was cursed shortly thereafter. Although The Broadway and Sears reopened in late 1994, further renovations were postponed until mid-1995. In June 1995, J. C. Penney was destroyed and rebuilt. Bullock was completely destroyed and rebuilt from the ground as a result of an earthquake.
Federated Department Stores, Bullock and Broadway chain owners, turned Bullock's into Macy's in 1996 and closed Broadway, despite the fact that it was planned to become Bloomingdale's. A year later, Robinsons-May consolidated his two stores to a store in the southwest corner of the mall. The Robinsons-May at the northwest end is destroyed for a cinema, while the former Broadway store is further divided into smaller mall stores. General Growth Properties buys the mall at this point and starts construction on the outside balcony that replaces the former Broadway. Opened in 1999 with Borders Books & amp; Music and some restaurants. When Macy earned Robinsons-May in 2006, Robinsons-May's store became Macy's Home Store. The border closes and becomes Sports Authority in 2011, but also out of business in 2016 and today, the space is converted into Dave & amp; Buster.
