History

At the NAREB National Mid-Winter Conference, in February 1968, in San Francisco, California. Martin Luther King Jr. speaking before membership. A few months before he was killed, the King spoke of how a privately-run "Marshall Plan" similar to that initiated in Europe after World War II, is what is needed to revitalize American inner cities. King states that in American inner cities investing ten billion dollars over ten years, from the government, will help attract and develop new and/or maintain and improve existing businesses. In this revitalized urban economy, the inner working urban population will become homeowners, he says, thereby improving the social and economic climate of their communities.
