Keller Williams Realty is an American international real estate franchise with headquarters in Austin, Texas. Founded in 1983 by Gary Keller and Joe Williams, the company grew from one office in Austin to about 900 offices with over 170,000 partners worldwide in November 2017. History
Keller Williams Realty was founded in 1983 by Gary Keller and Joe Williams. It started as a single office based in Austin, Texas, selling local residential real estate in the Austin area. After two years in business, Keller Williams became the largest single office real estate firm in Austin with 72 licensed agents. In the mid-1980s, the company suffered a United States housing bubble and began offering profit-sharing to existing partners and the potential to retain agents and help pass the recession. Within a year, the company grew to 130 agents and began to climb back as top real estate broker in Austin.
In the early 1990s, Keller Williams Realty expanded outside the state of Texas, opening up its business model to start a franchise business in 1991. Keller Williams Realty opened an office in Oklahoma in 1993, marking the company's first offices outside its home country. The Oklahoma Office was later recognized as the single most successful single real estate office in the state. Keller Williams is growing rapidly across the United States, many of which are associated with a 70/30 commission share for agents. In 1997 the company was recognized on the list of Success Magazine's Franchise Gold 100. When moving into the next century, Keller Williams became the 6th largest real estate agent in the US. An example of a rapid expansion came in the state of Florida where in 2004 it was considered the largest real estate office in Polk County with 114 agents. In the same year, it was considered the fastest growing statewide office with 45 market centers, bringing the number of its agents to more than 30,000.
Keller Williams Realty continues to grow and in 2007, the company launched Luxury Homes by Keller Williams , a division within the company that bridges only luxury real estate. Qualified agents receive training and certification through The Institute of Luxury Home Marketing and are designated as experts for the sale of high end corporate properties. In 2008, it launched KW Commercial, a division that provides commercial real estate associations with specialized technologies, marketing tools and resources. The division is known for allowing agents to maintain a more profitable commission sharing, retaining at least 60 percent more based on gross revenues of $ 300,000. It also allows profit sharing similar to residential agents. In 2012, the division boasts over 1,000 brokers nationwide.
By the end of the 2010 decade, Keller Williams has 77,672 real estate agents in the United States. It surpassed Century 21 as the second largest real estate agent in the US, two years after taking over the third place of RE/MAX International. Between 2005 and 2011, the company saw a 40 percent increase in the number of offices in North America. Keller Williams Realty went international in 2012, launching Keller Williams Worldwide as a subdivision to manage its international franchise. It was awarded the first overseas franchise in Vietnam in 2012. The same year, the company's franchise was available in Indonesia and South Africa, and by 2013 expanded to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Turkey and the UK.
At the end of April 2014, Keller Williams Realty reached 100,575 agents worldwide. This is due to an 18 percent increase in agents during 2013. In 2014, this is the largest real estate franchise by the number of agents in North America and the sole brokerage residential real estate private housing. In 2014, the company also announced the opening of the territory in Dubai. Dubai's first franchise awarded to IFA Hotels & amp; affiliated leadership group The resort is considered the largest foreign investor in Palm Jumeirah.

Keller Williams Realty operates a charity branch known as KW Cares which is a non-profit organization set up to help company colleagues and their families face difficulties and emergencies. Examples of giving include helping to help fight serious illness or recovering from life-changing accidents. The organization also contributes to other nonprofit institutions including Yayasan Sumur Ryan, Rumah Pasukan Kami, and Cancer Center M. D. Anderson.
Starting in 2009, Keller Williams Realty began organizing a one-day annual event where all employees spend a day away from the office donating their time to their local community. Known among colleagues as RED Day (Renew, Energize, and Donate), all of Keller Williams's offices are closed for the event. From the outset, his colleagues have been involved with projects that include rebuilding homes, organizing blood movers, giving local food, and improving local parks.

Further acknowledgment has come from the Entrepreneur where he has been featured in the Best Magazine franchise of Best Magazine and included in their fifth Franchise 500 rank. In 2013, Workplace Dynamics crowned Keller Williams as the No. 1 Top Workplace. 9 in the United States. Also in 2013, Inc. Magazine presents Keller Williams with HirePower Award and recognizes the company as one of the 5,000 fastest growing private companies in the United States.
Additional awards and acknowledgments include being named one of the top 10 Best Companies to Work in America by Forbes, winner of the 2009 Stevie Awards, and ranked in 2014. 2 training organizations in all industries by the Training magazine, and ranked in 2015 as a training organization. 1 in all industries.
