Histori
This area began as an environment called Modello at the end of the 19th century.
In November 1904, the area was incorporated as the city of Dania , as most of the 35 inhabitants were Danish-born farmers.
On January 4, 1926, Dania chose to annex itself to City of Hollywood.
After Miami's storm in September 1926 destroyed Hollywood's wealth, most of Dania broke away from Hollywood City and reincorporated as a city. The areas that choose to remain a part of Hollywood City lead to the limits of Dania's current non-continuous city.
In November 1998, Dania officially changed its name to Dania Beach . Dania's name is still often used to refer to the city.
In 2001, the city annexed several areas unrelated to Broward County that increased the population to around 3,600.
Formerly known as the "Capital of the Tomato of the World", once the city shifted from a farming settlement to an urban city, the city soon took the name of "The Southern Capital of the South," as many antique stores in downtown Dania Beach, especially along the Federal Highway known as the "Antique Row" of the city.
