The International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) is the largest international non-profit association operating exclusively for people and firms engaged in business brokerage and mergers and acquisitions. This association provides business brokers education, conferences, professional designations, and networking opportunities. Formed in 1983, the IBBA now has more than 1,000 business intermediaries across the world. The IBBA has been described as "the most complete package of membership benefits and services, best networking opportunities and most influential group of business brokers."

Function
The IBBA concentrates on providing education and courses for the business broker profession. It awards the Certified Business Broker (CBI) certification as well as runs the courses and seminars required to obtain this certification.

Certified Business Intermediary
Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) is the designation awarded to IBBA members who satisfy education requirements and adhere to IBBA's standards. The rough cost of becoming a CBI is $5,000. According to the IBBA website, the requirements of a CBI are as follows:
- Gain 68 credit hours of IBBA/M&A Source courses: Required courses include 101, 501, 104/304, 210, 220, and 221 (this accumulates to 52 hours and 16 credit hours in any elective courses.
- Be an IBBA member in good standing.
- Attend at least one IBBA conference.
- Have three years of business brokerage experience (college degree can satisfy two years, and working towards the CBI can count as your third year).
- Fill out your CBI application.
- Pass the CBI exam (offered at the IBBA conferences twice a year).
